A dream of Mars magazine journalist - short story

Magazine journalist at Mars  has published a story that claims that Microsoft is working on a new way to use the Kinect sensor (the Kinect sensor) that will let you play games just by moving your head. It's hard to take this kind of claim seriously, but if the first thing people say when they hear the word "Kinect" is "it'll play games by moving your head," then I'd say Microsoft's development kits are making a huge impression.
The next big thing about these technology demos is that, despite the fact that the technology is relatively well known, it's still not a very mainstream product. There's one reason for this: even though many of the gaming enthusiasts who know about Kinect and have installed them in their games already use it, it's difficult for the average gamer to purchase new hardware that supports it without a big investment by the company responsible.
This, however, may change, as some of the developers are already taking advantage of the technology, and will be selling it at an affordable price, since the technology is still very expensive.

That's quite probably true, as it's also true that it took me less than three minutes of my time on the Oculus Rift to know that this was an impressive demo of the technology. For some, like Ars Technica, the next big gaming hit after Fallout 4, perhaps that's a relief, as it's a virtual world with a good storyline and a very realistic looking character model (albeit one that is quite a bit shorter). While for me, that was the real story.

But while Microsoft may have already done all the heavy lifting and delivered a world where gamers can take control of any character imaginable of any race and have them walk through a realistic environment, they still need to put it to the test in a real world.

That's why with a pair of Oculus Go devices and a few other accessories Microsoft's going into the world of gaming big time by getting into virtual reality with their own headsets and motion controllers.
